Student Learning Expectations

Grades Kindergarten through Three

  1. Involved Christians Who:
    • follow the Golden Rule
    • love God and love their neighbors;
    • show respect for all God's creatures;
    • learn about Jesus and act like Him;
    • know about their Catholic faith;
    • make good, healthy choices.
  2. Life-Long Learners Who:
    • are excited about learning new things;
    • actively learn by looking, listening, questioning, trying, and drawing conclusions;
    • use resource materials to answer questions, including technology and books;
    • work effectively in cooperative groups, sharing ideas;
    • appreciate music, art, and drama.
  3. Respectful, Effective Communicators Who:
    • listen carefully;
    • share ideas clearly with others;
    • become good readers;
    • share written ideas;
    • use good manners.
  4. Community Activists Who:
    • help those in need;
    • participate in community and faith activities;
    • take responsibility for and accept the consequences of their actions;
    • respect all God's children.
  5. Self-Aware Individuals Who:
    • always do their best in all they do;
    • make good, healthy choices;
    • know their actions have an effect on the world around them;
    • love and understand that God created everyone special and different;
    • share God's gifts with others.

Grades Four through Eight

  1. Involved Christians Who:
    • discover the love of God through loving one another;
    • foster Christian values - compassion, tolerance, justice, and respect for the dignity of life;
    • show respect for God, Church, others, self, authority, property, and environment;
    • grow in gospel values and commitment to their faith;
    • know basic Catholic teachings;
    • have developed ability to make good moral choices;
    • demonstrate the courage of their beliefs.
  2. Life-Long Learners Who:
    • can demonstrate a strong foundation in the basics of all subjects;
    • have a continuing curiosity and enthusiasm for education;
    • know where to go for information and how to interpret it;
    • are self-motivated;
    • observe, experiment, discover, and reach solutions;
    • can understand different points of view;
    • have leadership skills and implement them;
    • establish and accomplish effective goals with others;
    • use technology for learning, communication, enjoyment;
    • use study skills effectively;
    • show appreciation for the fine arts.
  3. Respectful, Effective Communicators Who:
    • listen, critically and compassionately;
    • articulate ideas, clearly, creatively, and effectively;
